Where to get help while Present Tense is in beta.

Tell us what happened

Email reaches a person, and it is also how you ask for beta access. The more of the list below you include, the faster we can find the cause.

feedback@present-tense.io

We read every report, and usually reply within 24 hours.

What to include

  • The page you were presenting.
  • Your browser and its version.
  • Whether you were presenting or watching.
  • The session code, if you have it.
  • What happened, and what you expected instead.

Common problems

An embedded frame from another site does not come through

A frame hosted on a different domain, such as an embedded video, a payment form or a map, is not captured. A frame from the same site is.

A chart or a map shows as a still image

Content drawn on a canvas or with WebGL is sent as a still picture, refreshed when the page redraws it. Motion inside it does not come through.

A custom control is missing from the audience view

Some sites build controls in a way the capture cannot read. Tell us the site and the control and we will look.

Nothing the audience does reaches your tab

This is by design, not a fault. The audience view is read only. They can scroll and zoom their own copy, and none of it is sent back to you.

Joining late or reconnecting skips what was missed

A joiner lands on what you are showing now. Nothing replays. This is the intended behaviour.

Capture will not start on this tab

Browser settings pages, the Chrome Web Store and similar restricted pages cannot be captured. Open the page you want to show in a normal website tab.

The popup says the session has no presenter key

The extension's pairing is stale. In the popup, choose Refresh and pick the session again. If it persists, sign out and sign back in.

The audience sees a frozen or stale page

Stop capturing and start again on the tab. A reconnect lands everyone on your current page, and nothing replays.

The talk is in a language the audience does not read

The page reaches them as real text, so their browser's own translation works on it. The session menu in the audience pill explains where to find that in their browser.

A sign-in or beta email never arrived

Check your spam folder. Beta mail comes from beta@send.present-tense.io. You can also write to us from the address you signed up with.

About the beta

Present Tense is in beta. Bug reports decide what we build next, so a rough session is worth writing in. The same address is how you ask for access.
